In: Invisalign® Clear Aligners
Invisalign pricing varies widely. Here is what real treatment costs in the Central Valley, what factors drive the price, and how patients pay for it.
Real California pricing ranges
In the Central Valley:
- Invisalign Express (5-10 aligners): $1,800-$2,800 - best for very minor crowding or relapse.
- Invisalign Lite (up to 14 aligners): $2,500-$3,800 - mild-to-moderate cases.
- Invisalign Comprehensive (full case): $3,500-$6,500 - most adult cases.
- Invisalign Teen: $3,500-$6,500 - same as full comprehensive.
- Invisalign First (children): $2,500-$4,500 - early intervention cases.
Prices include all aligners, attachments, refinement aligners, and retainers at completion.
What drives the price
Cost varies based on:
- Complexity of your bite - more correction = more aligners = higher cost.
- Length of treatment - 6 months vs. 18 months.
- Refinements needed - most cases need 1-2 mid-course corrections; included in good practices.
- Combination with other procedures - veneers, whitening, bonding at completion.
- Your provider experience level - experienced Invisalign providers often charge slightly more but produce better results in fewer refinements.
Cheap Invisalign at the $2,000-mark is sometimes a "Lite" case being discounted; verify what is included.
Insurance coverage
Most PPO plans:
- Cover Invisalign at the orthodontic tier (50%) with a lifetime orthodontic max of $1,000-$2,500.
- Adult orthodontic coverage is sometimes excluded - check your plan.
- Coverage for dependent children is usually broader than for adults.
- Pre-treatment estimate strongly recommended for any Invisalign case.
We verify coverage at consultation and submit on your behalf.
Financing options
Most patients use a combination:
- In-office payment plans - interest-free monthly payments over 6-24 months.
- CareCredit and other financing - 0% APR for qualified applicants over 12-24 months.
- HSA / FSA - Invisalign qualifies as a medical expense for tax-advantaged accounts.
- Insurance - applied first; remaining balance is patient responsibility.
A $5,000 case with $1,500 insurance benefit + 24-month financing works out to ~$145/month.
What to ask at the consult
Before signing anything:
- What is the total cost INCLUDING refinements and final retainers?
- What happens if I need extra aligners or a second round of refinements?
- Is the cost adjusted if treatment finishes faster?
- What are the payment plans and APR if any?
- What is the total visit count?
- Is whitening included?
- What happens if I lose an aligner or if one cracks?
A reputable provider answers all of these in writing on the treatment estimate.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I pay monthly?
- Yes. We offer in-office payment plans and partner with CareCredit for 0% interest over 12-24 months for qualified applicants.
- Will my insurance cover Invisalign for adults?
- Some plans do, some don't. Adult orthodontic coverage is less common than dependent-child coverage. We verify before treatment.
- Is Invisalign more expensive than braces?
- Slightly, in most cases - Invisalign typically costs $500-$1,500 more than equivalent braces. Some cases are priced equivalently.
- Are at-home aligner companies cheaper?
- Yes, often $1,800-$2,500. They can work for very simple cases but lack in-person clinical oversight, which is the main reason we don't recommend them for most patients.
