Anxious Patients
A gentler visit for anxious patients.
If the dentist makes you nervous, you are not alone, and you are welcome here. We have built our entire approach around helping anxious patients feel calm, safe, and in control.
You Are in Good Hands
Dental anxiety is common, and completely understandable.
Dr. Cheung is known for his gentle approach and his ability to make anxious patients feel relaxed and comfortable throughout their visit. Whether your nerves come from a past experience, a fear of pain, or simply not knowing what to expect, our team meets you with patience and care.
Our goal is simple: a visit that feels calm, honest, and never rushed, so you can get the care you need without the dread.
Comfort Without Laughing Gas
We don't use nitrous, because we don't need to.
Many offices reach for nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, to calm nervous patients. We take a different path. We have found that our calming techniques and Dr. Cheung's gentle, unhurried approach ease even our most anxious patients, without any gas at all.
That means no mask over your face, no foggy after-effects, and no waiting to feel like yourself again before you drive home. Just steady, attentive care that keeps you comfortable the natural way.
How We Keep You Comfortable
The calming techniques we rely on.
These are the simple, human things that make the biggest difference for our anxious patients.
-
We explain everything first
No surprises. Dr. Cheung walks you through what is happening and why, before it happens, so you always know what to expect.
-
We never rush
You set the pace. We take breaks whenever you need one, and we are happy to split longer treatment across visits.
-
A gentle, unhurried touch
Dr. Cheung is known for a light, careful technique and for keeping patients genuinely comfortable from start to finish.
-
A calm, judgment-free space
It does not matter how long it has been since your last visit. You will be met with warmth, not a lecture.
-
Pause anytime
A simple raised-hand signal stops everything. You stay in control of your appointment the whole way through.
-
Comfortable numbing
We use topical numbing before any injection and take the time to make sure an area is fully numb before we begin.
Common Questions
Anxious patient FAQs
Answers to the questions we hear most from nervous patients.
Do you offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas)?
No, we do not use nitrous oxide. We have found that our calming techniques and Dr. Cheung's gentle, unhurried approach put even our most anxious patients at ease without it. If comfort is a concern for you, tell us and we will tailor your visit around it.
I have not been to a dentist in years. Will I be judged?
Never. Many of our patients come to us after a long time away. There is no judgment here, only a plan to get you healthy and comfortable at a pace that feels right for you.
What if I start to feel anxious during my appointment?
Just raise your hand and we stop immediately. We will check in, give you a moment, and only continue when you are ready. You are always in control.
Can I bring someone with me for support?
Absolutely. You are welcome to bring a friend or family member along if having someone familiar nearby helps you feel more at ease.
